The Ministry of Water and Sanitation announced the operation of two new units at the Beni Naji sludge removal facility on the evening of August 6, 2025, as part of the second phase of the gradual commissioning.
This brought the system’s operating capacity to 75% of its maximum capacity, with a noticeable improvement in reducing the sludge percentage and increasing the production of potable water.
This facility constitutes an effective environmental solution to the sludge crisis affecting the Aftoot coastal facilities, thus enhancing the achievement of sustainability and ensuring water security.
